But this will not just be your everyday help-I'm-starting-university-no-one-will-like-me student angst. Although that probably will be the case in another years time. I am about to leave the UK, my home country, for six months to work in a care home for the elderly- in Japan. So, naturally quite a jump from A-Levels and working at retailers, which has been my life for the past two years. And to be frank at heart, I'm scared bloody witless, but at the same time incredibly excited. Hopefully with time this blog will begin to fill with interesting tidbits, little stories and pictures, maybe even some videos. I hope you'll want to come back again.
Right now I don't think the gravity of the situation has really sunken in to be honest. In seven days I'll be sat on the plane on my way into the (almost) unknown. My thoughts at the moment tend to drift between my family, my friends, my girlfriend and my finances, not neccesarily in that order either. (Oh and to any of the above mentioned, thanks for reading!)This next week I have to sort out an unbelievable amount of things. I would never have thought that travelling would be so difficult. I still need to:
- Get some Yen
- Organise my packing
- Photocopy my important stuff
- Get a hair cut (This is no laughing matter, my Japanese barely extends to greetings, yet alone "I'd like a number 3, back and sides please" The longer I can put a haircut off in Japan the better)
- Sell my Xbox 360 (Any takers?)
- Start a blog (Oh well nevermind)
- Tidy my room (I think there's less chance of my Dad trying to rent my room out if it's tidy when I leave... Or maybe that should be the other way round? No one will want to stay in there if it's an absolute bombshell)
And countless other things too.
I hope to update this blog at least somewhat regularly once I get out there, but as I don't know what facilities are available out there, I couldn't say when I'll update this blog after September the 4th.
Thanks again to any freinds or family reading, your support has been completely invaluable. I'm not joking when I say I couldn't have done this without you!
PS Anyone freinds, family, or complete strangers feel free to leave comments on this post, I would love to read them!

Your loving bank manager
Hellloooo, yes I suck at writing comments. Do I care? No :P
Nah, I don't mind about the coments, at least you took the time to comment!
i was not enough brave to travel abroad when i was 18. you are a real challenger!!
i remembered that it was annoying to prepare all stuff like photocopying important documents, getting visa, choosing courses and accommodation, overseas insurance, exchanging yen to dollar/pound/euro and so on.
but i was very very excited to go abroad so it was not pain at all to deal with them!
i'd like to get back the first excitement again to stay curious and hungry :)
